Microsoft took a big step in the evolution of Project from being a stand-alone desktop tool to being an enterprise tool with the release of Office Project Server 2003 as an extension to Project itself. Now Office Project Server 2007 takes that evolution to the next level, with a greatly improved and changed toolset, and a completely updated look and feel as well. This edition covers the new features, including a change to the basic architecture; greater use of and easier integration with SharePoint; new tools for light projects, resource planning, and reporting; a new back-end integration tool called PSI; and new installation and configuration procedures. This edition will also delete some sections geared more towards end users, to clearly differentiate this book from Special Edition Using Microsoft Office Project 2007. The two books are designed to complement each other with a minimum of overlap. Project Server 2003 won over many businesses as a more cost-effective Enterprise Project Management tool than its competitors; Project Server 2007 should see an even great adoption rate, so there will be an even greater need for this book.
